Tupolev TB-3

TB-3

TB-3, 1/72 scale ( Vesa Satamo ). "TB-3, representing the one that was captured by the Finnish troops during Winter war (1940) at Kuhmo (a small city in eastern Finland). The plane was supplying a surrounded russian division, but was forced to stay on the ground (actually it landed on the ice of a frozen lake) by Finnish mortar fire and later abandoned by the crew. An ICM kit with Eduard photo etched parts and to Finnish troops converted Siberian riflemen from Revell Germany."

TB-3

TB-3, 1/72 scale ( Ed Russell ). "This ICM TB-3 is based on photographs in the volume Avions Collections Profils No 3 covering the TB-3 and Pe-8. It represents a TB-3 M17F of 23 DBAD, when this division was supporting parachute operations near Moscow in 1942. The photos show that the camouflage consists of a lighter colour overpainting the presumed AII Dark Green. I have speculated that it is field-applied AII Light Brown and used Humbrol 94 to represent it, but it could equally be a green shade. The tail number is not visible on the photos, but the red stars on the nose and engine covers are features. The ICM kit is complex but rewarding. The wingtips, lower tail area, undercarriage track and elevator profiles do not agree with plans or photos and I have modified them accordingly, but the kit is apparently accurate in general."

TB-3

TB-3, 1/72 scale ( Octávio Mântua ). "I built this ICM TB-3 right from the box. It is a great kit but watch out for one of the wings (don't remember witch one), you will have to trim it a little. I also shortened the width of the landing gear (it looked to wide for me). And I had to hand paint the red stars because the decals where very thin."

TB-3

TB-3, 1/72 scale ( Vladimir Yakubov ). ICM TB-3. "The model itself was beautiful. The fit was so good that even when I thought that it was wrong it later turned out that the kit was right but I was wrong. The model is mostly out of the box. The few improvements are made in the cockpit area and the gun emplacements. It is painted with model master paints and and represents the aircraft of the 1 ADD in 1942."
