Ilyushin DB-3

TsKB-30

TsKB-30 Moskva, 1/72 scale ( Dmitri Tubin). "An old 'Maquett' kit has been used for this model. There is no need to describe how 'brilliant' the in-box was! Tons of model filler were needed, hours of work such as scrubbing and shaving was also. The pilot cabin got a few some changes, and new wheels. All of the small parts were added, such as antennas, open navigator's door, etc."
DB-3T

DB-3T, 1/72 scale ( Jiri Pazdera ). "This DB-3T with motors M87b was built from the old Maquette DB 3 kit with many modifications, based on material in Russian magazine "Istoria Aviatsii No 2-4/2001", and "Avio". Heavily re-built. The basic modifications: 2 small windows on both sides of the fuselage for gunner; improved cockpit; glass part behind pilots' canopy added; navigator's cabin re-made; entrance door for navigator under his cabin; motor cowlings were reshaped (motor cowlings in original Maquette kit do not correspond to reality at all); the wing thickness improved; new panel lines engraved; new oil radiator intakes; landing gear improved; new vacuformed gun turret MV3, new machine guns; radio compass antenna  RPK-2 in front of canopy. The torpedo and parachute case were taken from IL 4T "Zvezda" kit. And, there were several more small improvements.  Finish is over-all aluminium colour (mixed with touch of white).

"Decals - original kit red stars, red and black outlined No. "1" self-made. The model represents an aircraft of 1 Mine Torpedo Air Regiment, BSF (1 MTAP KBF). This plane was involved in shooting down a Finnish Ju 52 "Kaleva" on 14.6.1940. The crew was (regimental commander) Bedzinaschvili, navigator Khokhlov, gunner Lutchnikov  (Istoria Aviatsii No 3/2001)."
