1/48th A-20
by Victor Russell

AMT 1/48 A-20 mostly out of the box adding only photoetched seat harness and Ministry of Small Aircraft decals. I added the painted over US insignia's for effect, I couldn't find a picture of the A-20 I did, but most of the others had the "star and bar" painted over.

1/48th Il-2
by Jerry Ben

1/48 IL-2 Shturmovik from Accurate Miniatures. This kit is straight out of the box. Its painted per the instructions and I used kit decals. I added the winter camouflage by dry brushing white paint a represented on the picture on the bottom of the box. The only thing that I added was the antenna which is made from a thread of nylon from a pair discarded pantyhose and painted black. This is better than stretched sprue or any other material because it stretches and cannot be damaged easily.

1/48th Yak-1 by Rick Marshall

The interior colour is a mix of ModelMaster Acrylic RLM02 two parts and Polly S Russian underside blue 1 part, thinned with Polly S thinner. The Decals are from the kit and worked great. I made a few small modifications:
  • Thin copper strips for the rudder pedal straps.
  • Reheat Sutton harness
  • Added some railway decals for cockpit placards
  • Used Cutting Edge Gun sight (Nice Touch)
  • Added steel tubing for 7.7mm guns
  • Used thin brass wire for gear indicating pins

Paint was done by painting the green and black first then adding a thin off white top coat and wearing it away in places with micro mesh polishing clothes. Panels were highlighted with a thin dark grey paint using an airbrush, panel lines were highlighted with an HB pencil. Exhausts and gun blasts were done with pastels.
