Travers Mig-3 Decals, Catalog Number 72050, MiG-3s
Very nice decal sheet, containing decals for twelve aircraft. Decals seem to
be good quality and in-register.
Schemes
- Twelve MiG-3 schemes are provided on this sheet.
- "White 04", pilot and unit unknown, 1942. The camo is light green/dark
green/light blue. The spinner is dark green.
- "White 5", 55th IAP, pilot A. I. Pokryshkin, 1942. Camouflage
is overall dark green, with light blue undersurfaces. It wears small writing
"Gvardija" on the front fuselage. The spinner is yellow.
- "Yellow 17", 216th training regiment, Novosibirsk, 1944. Aircraft
is overall light gray with yellow spinner.
- "Yellow 9". This aircraft was shot down in Karelia, 1942. Top
surfaces dark green, undersurfaces light blue, yellow spinner.
- Aircraft of the 34th IAP, Moscow, Winter 1941-42. This is an overall white
aircraft (undersurfaces again light blue), with red arrow and patriotic slogans
"Za Stalina" on the fuselage sides. The spinner tip is red.
- Again an aircraft of the 34th IAP, Moscow, Winter 1941-42. Marking is the
same as at previous aircraft, the only difference is the patriotic slogan
"Za Rodinu".
- "Red 36", 12th IAP, Moscow defence, Winter 1942. Again white/lt.
blue camouflage, with black stripe in front part of fuselage and red topside
of wings. The spinner is white, with the red star on the tip.
- Once again, an aircraft of the 34th IAP, Moscow, Winter 1941-42. The camouflage
is the same as at previous aircraft of this unit. The slogan is now "Za
Partiu Bolsevikov".
- "White 43", 401st IAP, August 1941. Aircraft is depicted as dark
green/brown, with dark green spinner.
- "White 21", Aviacia VMF (???). Camo is light green/dark green,
with light gray spinner (questionable I think).
- An aircraft in LG/DG/LB camouflage, with dark green spinner. There is a
patriotic slogan "Smert nemeckim okupantam" on the right fuselage
side.
- "Black 7", Moscow defence, pilot A. V. Shlopov, 1942. Again a
white aircraft with light blue undersurfaces, with black flashes and slogans
"Za Stalina!" on the fuselage sides. Tail and wing tips, as well
as spinner are red.
All colours are generic, but VVS fans will have no problems with that. Because
some camos are questionable in my opinion, good references are necessary. Also
any comments to these camouflages and markings are highly welcome.
