Yakovlev Yak-1 in 1/72nd Scale

Yak-1b

Yak-1b, 1/72 scale ( Pawel Piwonski ). Pawel has completed a Yak-1b, this using the ZTS kit (which I think is the old Mykro). The link will take you to his site (with more details) which is largely in Polish, but he plans to add some english text here at a later date.

Yak-1b

Yak-1b, 1/72 scale ( Ian Krotowicz ). Mykro. "Yak-1b, early 1943, Normandie-Niemen, Red 44. Marcel Albert. Worn out temporary winter white. The Micro kit is unusual in that while most detail is wrong and needs correction, the overall shapes and proportions of the fuselage and wings are not too bad. The propeller was the hardest - I did the blades from scratch. All the air intakes/outlets were tricky, too."

Yak-1

Yak-1, 1/72 scale ( Libor Jekl ). Amodel. This kit represent the early version produced by Factory No. 292 till the November 1941. The kit is built out of the box, I have added just a few more details into the cockpit made from scrap plastic, the belt buckles come from Extratech etched set. Otherwise no other aftermarket were used. I have also made a new canopy using the original kit parts as a master. I choose to model a plane that is shown in the excellent book "Pervyj Jak" (First Yak). It is a machine from 21. IAP KBF, dated winter 1942/43. All decals come from my stockpile.

Yak-1b

Yak-1b, 1/72 scale ( Erik Pilawskii ). This is the old Myrko 1:72 Yak-1 kit, suitably modified into a Yak-1B. The exhaust was scratch built, and the canopy assembled from various units in the spares box. The undersurface details and panel line sare actually a decal made on my ALPS printer. I have never used this method before, and I found the results to be pretty much satisfactory. The aircraft is a Yak-1B of the 267 IAP, pilot u/k. The colors are AMT-11 and -12 applied in a 1944 Saratov pattern. See also our decals sheet review.

Yak-1b

Yak-1b, 1/72 scale ( Bill Arnold ). Mykro Yak-1.

Yak-1

Yak-1, 1/72 scale ( Ilya Grinberg). Ilya's wonderful Yak-1 was constructed using the old Mikro72 kit; accurate, but old indeed. "Yak-1 is of 183 IAP, M.D.Baranov's legendary white 1 "Smert Fashistam". This is an ancient Micro kit, out of the box, and again the canopy is Falcon vacuumform. The barrels of the machine guns and pitot tube are from fine tubing."
