MiG-3 ( István Vadász ). "ICM, 8 IAP VVS Chf, Black Sea Fleet, 1942."
MiG-3 ( Paul Flint ). "Here is the Classic Airframes MiG-3 in 1/48th scale. With it's resin, photoetch and vacuum-formed parts already in the box it is the equivelent of a "Profi-pack". My model is not one specific machine, but several different things I have been wanting to try on a MiG. The only physical modifications I made were to replace the kit wheels/tires with the ones from the Eduard Yak-3 and added the underwing guns from the ICM MiG-3 (ICM's instructions are wrong, B12 goes under the right wing and B13 goes under the left). The use of underwing gun pods was rare on MiG-3's , especially so on the early ones (as shown here) but I just couldn't resist! The camouflage scheme is a classic factory-applied AII Green/ Dark Green scheme as shown in Erik's book (page 86 fig 5). The yellow "4" on the tail is stolen from Lidia Litvyak's Yak-1 just to add some additional color. The close-up of the nose is to showcase the decal for the reduction gear ratio provided by Propagteam. A very nice addition that is not always visible in period photography."
MiG-3 ( Jan Koennig ). MiG-3 (early) Kit: Flashback (Classic Airframes). Colors: Xtracolor Light Grey Blue, Black-Grey and Light Green. Decals: Stars from Kit, Numbers made by me. I had need many Time (40 h), many Putty and CA."
MiG-3 ( Bob Partridge ). ICM kit. ICM kit in 1/48 scale. Much detail added to what is already supplied by ICM, areas that received attention are Cockpit & Wheel Wells. Only problem experienced during build was getting the engine top cowling to fit and stay in place, nothing major. Model is finished as MIG-3 "White 82" of 39th IAP, 7th IABr. VMF-TOF, pilots unknown as several appear to have flown this machine during its long service life. The aircraft was used for recon flights against the Japanese on the Trans-Baikal Front for a period exceeding 4 years.
MiG-3 ( Zoltán Tóth ). ICM kit. Summer of 1943, Black Sea Fleet 7. IAP
MiG-3 ( Hector Mirasol ). "This is the MiG-3 from ICM and has been built straight from the box, just adding a few own built details like cables and wires. I can only prise ICM for this beatifully crafted model and I hope they will keep this way. I decided to model the first Pokrishkin plane , the famous White 5 in which he scored his first victories. As I said, the kit was done directly from the box. I did engrave some rivet lines in the inner pannels of the wings and on fuselage as per some drawings I found in the Web. The flaps are well engraved and I cut them off adding a few ribs on the weels."
MiG-3 (Hector Mirasol). "This is the 1/48 Flashback kit (which is basically Classic Airframes). It is really a very good kit with all the bits necessary to do a good model from the box. The White 27 was a plane of the 7th IAP defending Leningrad in the summer of 1942. It was painted green and brown with a tiger stripe pattern in black on top. The plane, as many of its kind was flying without the centre section of the canopy (apparently, it was difficult to open it in the event of leaving it in a hurry). The decals are from Aeromaster."
MiG-3 ( Bob
Laskodi ). "The model is the 1/48 ICM MiG-3 kit built with the fantastic
Cutting Edge cockpit detail set and Part P/E set. The aircraft is one that operated
over the Leningrad Front in 1942."
MiG-3 ( Tom Cleaver ). Tom has done a wonderful job on the new ICM kit. For a more detailed review, see his article on Modeling Madness.
MiG-3 ( Peter Vill ). Here we have a nicely constructed example of 'Red 02' of the 120 IAP PVO, ca. 1942. This is the Classic Airframes kit that is now under the Flashback brand name. Decals are Aero Master, sheet number 48-313. Model is painted using Aeromaster acrylics / Tamiya XF-2 white , with rockets from the ICM YAK-7 kit.
