Well, I started to decal my Eduard La-7 using Propag Team's Dolgushin's markings. Unfortunately they're a bit translucent and the underlying color is coming through.
Does anyone have an extra set of these Propag Team decals so I can double-up some of the markings? Unfortunately (fortunately?) they adhere extremely well to the model so removing them at this point only means I'll ruin the underlying paint - something I don't wish to do.
The category most likely to be of interest to VVS GPW enthusiasts is obviously "Aircraft - Props". There are about 630 models in this section; of these, only about 30 (or less!) are VVS aircraft. Obviously we have a lot of "propaganda" to spread before the I-16 or the MiG-3 becomes as popular as the Bf-109! :(
This arnament is for P-39N (and previous) no for Q! Q have only 2x 50. gun pods (Q-1, Q-5, Q-10, Q-15) or nothing (Q-20 and next) in wings. Very many modelers made his Q-15 with arnament as in N-serie. I don´t belviele it!
Where is true? I think Reckhalov´s airacobra has two gunpod or nothing under wings.

Im building Popkov's La-5FN from Zvedza 1:48 and I am in front of the same question as a time ago when building Kuzedub's La-7.
There is a very good article regarding Kuzedub's La-7 "Lost in time", as well as thread about Popkov.
In both cases there is a discussion regarding camouflage color - there are pros and cons for both single tone AMT11 as well as for 2 tones AMT11+AMT12.
I found recently a statement in the MBI book "Lavockin La-5" from Milos Vestsik and Jiri Vrany, page 78, scan of that you can find in the attachment.
So, could someone, please, provide a text of the Order NKAP N 5590/0207 or comment it?
According to that it seems (least for me) 2 tones AMT11/AMT12 camoflage was standard and single tone AMT11 (or AMT12) was an exception.
Thank you.

The indifference shown by major (and not so major...) model manufacturers towards the I-153, an important VVS type for a considerable part of the war, keeps puzzling me.
However, things might be changing. I just discovered a short review at scalemodels.ru, on a new 1/48 multimedia kit of the I-153, representing an early production machine, with large spinner and colour schemes for the 1938/39 period:
http://scalemodels.ru/modules/myarticles...d_966.html
The model seems better indicated for those used to "adventurous" builds: the niceties include the need to open the cowling shutters. Several smaller parts such as the machine-gun blast tubes or the engine exhausts, as the reviewer points out, must be made from scratch or replaced with aftermarket items.
I keep thinking the I-153 deserves to be kitted by a major, full-run firm, in both scales (Zvezda, are you listening?)... ;-)

The last thing I need to paint on my Eduard La-7 are the wheels ("hubs") since they're separate from the tires. However, I'm at a loss at the color I should paint them.

Should they be underside blue? Or should they be green? If green, what's a good acrylic paint match?

Although a little farther along than the picture shows, this is where I was at a couple of weeks ago. I have since attached the entire tailwheel assembly and the main gear legs. I just painted the tires and prop blades and hope to assemble the blade/spinner assembly tonight.

My thinking was to build this out of the box, to show people the areas that need fixing (wing tips and stance of the landing gear) - plus I'm lazy. I have way too many in-progress kits I just want to start finishing them with no longer (for these in-progress kits) worrying about what needs to be accomplished. Nah, I'm just lazy. ;)
